Sterling Ranch started as just a couple of boy’s crazy idea, but quickly became reality. We had to do hours of research to find the breed for us. We needed the cattle to be; docile, easy to handle and maintain, and not gigantic! That left our parents with only one option... miniature herefords. Once given the ok we had to begin fencing off our property. We were so excited we even fenced on Christmas. Once the property was fenced we had to find some cattle. We got our start with good sound genetics, and Mr. Potter was more than happy to help us get our project up and running. Our first show was Cow Palace, it was a little intimidating to bring three head and a refurbished blocking chute, when other breeders rolled in with 20 head. But those intimidating breeders are such great people and play a big part in where we are now.
